Pour Vous, For You
The Alpaca Clothing Store is an online retail site. A subsidiary of Pour Vous, a wholesale line of fine knitwear founded by Kathy Ellis and Queta Giron Schaefer. It grew out of the desire to provide their high quality, affordable luxury products to areas that were not covered by the boutiques that carried their line nationwide. Why should anyone be denied the opportunity to experience the ultra-soft fiber that feels like wearing a hug just because they were not carried in their area?
Pour Vous is based in Everett, Washington, 30 miles north of Seattle, and the company's designs are made to order in Lima, Peru.
The wholesale business had its origins in 2002, in a restaurant where the two were enjoying dinner. After a woman tried to buy a ruana off Kathy's back ... a gift from Queta, who had gone to Peru to visit family ... Kathy turned to her friend and said, "I wonder if there's a business in this?"
The next month Queta, went back to Peru and brought home 40 ruanas in a suitcase. Kathy contacted the Seattle Trend Show and ordered a small booth for the organization's next exhibit. The two crafted their own signs and displays, and off to the show they went ... "completely clueless," laughs Kathy. The show went fairly well. They took orders for about half of what they brought to the show. Modestly encouraged, they contacted their manufacturer and placed orders to create an inventory for immediate deliveries.
More than a decade since their humble beginnings out of a suitcase, Pour Vous has done business with more than 600 boutiques in North America. Now, Alpaca Clothing Store brings you this fine line of products for you at home, too.
The unique qualities of Alpaca gives it a 'comforting' experience, like wearing a little hug. Blending the fiber with silk has many advantages, such as being resistant to moths, its color vibrancy, and being machine washable in cold water.
